Harrison Bergeron & the Ones who walk Away From Omelas Response

Harrison Bergeron....
This is a really sad story! I think the fact that our society focuses so much on being equal that it makes other people handicapped. Because the handicapped cant be like the smart, rich, or athlete...no one can. They must all become handicapped. I think Diana Moon Glmapers is a flat character...She doesnt change throughout the story she is just the H-G. The point of view of this story is third person omniscent...They know everything about everyone but are not a character within the story. This is such a sad story and I hope that our society never becomes like this.

The Ones who walk away from Omelas...
Another really sad story!!! I don't think the narrator lives in Omelas..I think she is just visiting and trying to understand their culture. She doesnt believe that it is real. Shes saying there need to be drugs, sex, alcohol to make this place real. I feel bad for the little child. But if i were in that situation i dk what i would do. If i knew that this was going on I think i might stay. The people who are still there may be consisdered cruel but the people who walk away dont say anything so are they just as cruel? Is it worth walking away when you don't take action to fix it?

Young Goodman Brown Response

I did not understand this story one bit! it was very very confusing and I don't even know what to blog about because I just don't know what it was about.
I know that Salem is known for having witch trials and whatnot and that is probably why the author has the story set there. Faith is aptly named because i think the character loses his religious faith which is represented by his wife Faith within his "dream". I think that the old man is actually Brown himself and he just imagines someone else because hes a little crazy. I think that if the last three paragraphs were gone that we could be either more confused or less confused. I think he changes the mind  of everyone by saying it was a dream.
I really dont know what else to say because i really dont understand at all.

The Lottery Response/ Possible Paper Topics

So I think that I'm going to write about the yellow wallpaper.
I might argue that she has post-pardum depression (I should probably find out how to spell that)
Either that or maybe another story still coming up....

The Lottery: Woah...Disturbing!
I Think the Lottery takes place in very old days. Maybe the 18th century. But the writer makes it seem familiar because she wants you to feel for the characters and relate. The children gathering rocks and whatnot is a huge foreshadow to the ending. The black of the box, and the spot probably represent death. simple as that. These people think that if they hold this lottery every year it will bring them good food and wealth and such. Its basically talking about ancient cultures sacraficing to their gods. Its a very weird story and it just kind of ends. There was a huge build up the entire story to just that a rock hits her in the head. done. It was very weird but a very good story.

The Yellow Wallpaper Response

What did I just read?! This was the weirdest story ever!
This story is very strange, but I think the fact that she keeps saying "what can I do?" means she literally has no control as to what a man tells her. This is obviously in a time that woman are inferior to men. I think that as she gets more and more frustrated with the wallpaper, she gets sicker and sicker. She in fact ends up going crazy over this wallpaper. I think John does love her but I don't think he realizes that shes insane. or maybe he is the reason why she is going insane. He made her sick somehow...He couldve given her a drug or something.. I dk. When she starts to see the creepin' lady is when she starts to hallucinate! Shes like oh my gosh shes creepin' on me! ahh. haha In the beginning of the story she doesnt seem that sick, more just weak. But by the end she has nearly lost her mind.
This story is just the weirdest thing I think I've read. I like it though.

A Tell-Tale Heart Response

So I love this story. It's very weird. The point of view is from the murderer. And i think this shows what went through his mind the whole time. If the police told the story they would just say well he confessed randomly. The old man really doesnt play a huge role in this story. We know that he has this crazy blue eye and that he was fairly nice to this other guy. thats about it. The only thing that trips up the main character is that his own guilt comes back to make him confess. He felt so bad that the heart kept beating louder and louder and his own fear of getting caught was the real reason he confessed. The police dont know this guy and have no idea what is going through his mind. They just think he might be having a bad day or thats how he talks. They really dont know so thats why they keep having these casual convos with him.

A Rose for Emily Response

So I don't know exactly what to write about for this one. I've already read this last semester in English 101.
This is a very neat story and I enjoy it. When I first read it I was very confused on how old Emily was and exactly what she looked like. After finishing the story i quickly put everything together and understood everything. I think that in the last part where they find the silver hair is so exciting. its intriguing and also leaves the reader to believe what they want. I think that she secretly slept next to her dead "almost-finacee" Its creepy and eerie but I love it. the narrator of this story i think were the townspeople...often it says "we" meaning a group of people and who better to think she was crazy then them. if it were told from emily's point of view i dont think that she would seem so crazy..or weird or anything that we view her as now. we see that emily buys arsenic for some obscene reason and we think that it is to kill someone...mainly homer. especially because he just randomly disappears one day. Overall this is a good short story and I like it, although it is very weird...I think she doesnt mean to  be a crazy madwoman but she still is, regardless. I don't know why its called a rose for emily....

It's That Time Again Response

Hi! This is my first blog! YAY? Hopefully this is as easy as it looks....
So...Mostly in English 101 we learned a lot of grammer and how to write papers and such. We learned concepts like comma splices and puncuation. A lot of stuff that I already knew...We wrote papers like a proposal essay and a Research based essay...a literary analysis paper, which i did on A Rose for Emily.
Okay..A little about myself. I don't mind writing. I like to physically write rather than type, even though i'm a really fast typer...thanks to my mom. I read as often as I can...I've read the twilight series (loved it) and i have this new one called the Blue Bloods which i think is so fantastic. Some hobbies...basically I'm a huge geek, in high school I was captain of the varsity bowling team and I went down state and finished in the top 50 in the state of Illinois. and obviously I'm involved with band. Any band at USD I'm pretty much in. I love it...nbd. My favorite subject...music. That's why I'm majoring in it. and my least favorite is math. I've always been pretty good but I've hated it since day one....But thats just a little about me. Short, sweet and to the point :-D
